Nishorgo has designed this Carbon Offset Project to improve biodiversity conservation and alleviate rural poverty at Chunoti Wildlife Sanctuary (south of Chittagong) that was degraded before 1990.

The Project targets reforesting 5,000 hectares with a range of indigenous species by involving local stakeholders. The total cost of the Project implementation is USD 2 million.

The Project document follows CDM approved methodology and carbon credits of the order of 750,000 tonnes are estimated over a 40 years period of forests maturity. The project is well-suited to meet the needs for both voluntary carbon offsets and CDM criteria.
